Guidelines for medical, health and fitness professionals managing this population

Musculoskeletal pain, stress urinary incontinence, and abdominal separation are prevalent conditions among postpartum runners (Blyholder et at 2016). Awareness and understanding for the importance of optimal postnatal recovery in the prevention and management of these “common but not normal” conditions is increasing.

This proposed guideline has been created by the dedicated work of Grainne Donnelly (ABSOLUTE.PHYSIO) Tom Goom (AKA the Running Physio) and Emma Brockwell (AKA Physiomum UK).
